I downloaded a flac album from the HD Tracks website. I received an email from them recently saying that they had extended their list of artists including 96/24 flac downloads and was offered a discount to download some more stuff.

I duly picked 3 or 4 albums from the 96/24 catalogue and went through checkout only to be informed right at the close that since I did not live in the USA I couldn't download any music from them.

I contacted them saying I already had downloaded music - gave them the download reference and referred to my account which they have on record. Nothing since. Odd and very disappointingSad
It's disappointing, but FYI that is in their terms of use that you agree to when you first create an account:

"11. Territory. The Digital Store is currently available only in the United States of America, and is not available in any other location. You agree not to use or attempt to use the Digital Store from outside of the available territory, and that HD may use technologies to verify your compliance."
Yes I am now aware of their terms - leaving that aside what it doesn't explain is how I was able to pay for a flac album and download it from the site. It was clear that my credit card was UK based - the address I gave to create my account is here in the UK.

Did you download it from your office. You company may have a global WAN that has an access point in the US...= act as an US internet access.

Hi ML, no it was downloaded to our home PC here in Scotland.

So did I, stopped my order at that point, and wrote this mail on Oct., 13th:

Hi you at HDtracks,

well, I'm a little confused - why don't you sell your products outside the US? There aren't any problems as far as I can see: payment by credit card and downloading the music isn't limited by any borders or am I going wrong?

There are only few stores selling music in high resolution - first of all the LINN record store which hasn't the programm I'm looking for... I just bought there to get some high res musik onto my NAS. But what you're offering is different and more my cup of tea. So - is it possible for me, living in Germany, to buy and download music from your store?

Kind regards

Martin

and am still waiting for an answer....

Like you I am still awaiting a reply from HD - the courtesy of a response from them would be appreciated particularly as I have already bought from them. Seems like a rather poor service.

I am living in NY and this site is a great find - appreciate the post. Don't mean to rub it in. But just downloaded the free 'Gibson' album and listening to it now. Cool.

Sure at some point they will get the global licesning sorted out.

I tried to download but they dont want to sell to me as I'm not from the US...

So be it.
