Got my ds up and running and i must say WOW. I knew it was going to be good but not that good.
Wat i was wondering would i be better sticking to my Wakonda or using the majik pre instead?
Thanks in advance Scott.
Scott - As always, the real answer is "try it yourself and see whcih you prefer" Smile

However, on a slightly more helpful note: Do you only have one source (the DS) connected? If so, I think you might be better with just the Majik DS variable volume output. Otherwise (e.g. if you have a tuner, tv etc. connected) you'll probably want to stick with the Wakonda for flexibility.
Thanks for the quick reply, ihave cut down to only one source at the moment. I may give it a try as there seems to be a bit of a pro majik ds pre brigade at the moment on the forum. The long term move is going to be a 5103 with my lk 100,s and aktive kabers. But for now i just wondered would it be an upgrade of sorts taking the wakonda out of the line?????????? all advice welcome..
Hi Scott. I have a similar setup with a Sneaky, Wakonda and LK85. I have experimented with bypassing the Wakonda off and on and I have found that there is a difference. Only problem, is I can not decide which I prefer. Without the Wakonda I seem to gain better imagery but lose some bottom end. With the Wakonda in I get a deeper bass line. I have been unable to decide on listening alone which I prefer.

The final decision came down to the fact that I can put the DVD and TV through the Wakonda and so at the moment this is the way I have it. Had there been a major (more satisfying) diference I would have forsaken the TV, but unless any upgrade to the software brings a change to the sound I will settle for this arrangement.

Hope this helps, but as has been said before, give it a try yourself.
sorry for the delay, i have gave it a good listen and i am going with just the majik pre at the mo. Just a tremendous sound all round. Now in a quandry as to a pre all together. I am certain that its better than the wakonda which still sounds terrific i have a budjet of around £700 but dont want to spend for spending sake. Any advice would be great. Does it have to be linn??
I have my old 5103 on eBay at the moment (ending tonight) which would be a good upgrade for you, and straight into your long term goals.
i will have a look cheers ......................
Is the sound quality different between the old and the newer 5103??
Yes, sound quality does differ a little. The later models are better, due to use of a separate daughter board for surround deciding. The easiest way to tell is to go for one with a blue screen, although the last few green screen examples also had the upgraded sound.
Hi Rowland,

How much better do you find your Exotik over the 5103?
