Hi Eralux,
i think the best way to test is if You take your favorite song which You know very well. To take just a song because somebody recommended it it's not a good idea.
Best regards
Antal

Hallo,
I think it is better not to use the same music to test a system. If you hear a music only for testing a system it might be get boring after a while. Perhaps you will destroy the feeling you have for this music.
Changing the music will also protect you from listening only to special effects and from your expectations. It will be easier to listen to the things which are there.
I think that it will be a good thing to use music with a small instrumentation and an easy rhythm. For example Jonny Cash.
Another good thing is to use music which you don't like. If you are able to listen to this music and to understand the music you will love more music and this will make you more open and more rich. There is not much bad music in the world.

Joni Mitchell's "The Silky Veils Of Ardor" from Don Juan's Reckless Daughter is a real winner. Not only is it a great song but the recording of her acoustic guitar is really live. Of course her vocals are beautiful but there are some very toppy bits where the sibilence can leave some sytems struggling. Another good one is Pink Floyd's "Run Like Hell" from The Wall. Very tight bass, brittle guitar and driving drum beat.
But the best of the lot is Leftfield's "Afrika Shox". Not only does it test out every bit of your sytem, it shakes all the loose plaster off the walls and ceiling and annoys the hell out of your neighbours even if you are detatched!! A great reason for adding a big sub like the AV5150 to your set up.
