Thanks to all who posted and voted on the 'Keel for Aro' poll thread.
I'm delighted to announce that a new version of the Keel, which is compatible with the Naim Aro, has been developed and is currently at the prototype evaluation stage.
In the meantime, before release, we'll be taking pre-orders through our retailers. Keep a lookout for news on when and where you'll be able to hear it.
Hmm...I guess this is instead of responding to this question

Does it include the 'machined as one' arm collar of the Ekos Keel? If it does not one assumes it will be cheaper as a much thinner billet of aluminium is needed and significantly less machine time.

No, the pricing will be the same like the standard Keel....
YNWan,
As linnianer says, the price is the same. The weight of the Aro Keel is the same as the Ekos Keel too.
As for a collar, well this would replace a Naim part and therefore could be considered as a modification of a Naim product! - I don't think anyone would want this, so the Aro Keel has openings on it just like the original armboard we all have known upto now.
Kind regards,
Peter
Phantistic!! This is quite exciting news for all ARO users. Many congratulations to Linn to allow this long standing wish of many to come true.
Cheers

Well to be honest I didn't think that it would incorporate the arm collar - I was rather playing 'Devils Advocate'.
However, I am familiar with CNC machining. As the earlier pictures show, a large billet of aluminium is required to make the keel. Most of the material that would otherwise exist in the same plane as the armboard must be machined away and practically the entire layer that exists in the same plane as the Ekos arm collar - this is a huge amount of wastage. Now, this last layer, 12mm or so, of material does not have to be machined away if there is no arm collar; indeed, it need not even exist. This means a thinner billet is needed (cheaper) and a significantly smaller amount of machining (also cheaper).
Brilliant news Gavin, well done to Linn for listening and thank you.
Now if anyone sees me tap dancing at an underground station near you, please be sure to put some pennies in the hat!

On the other side it will be sold a lot less Keel for Aro than the regular Keel IMO and then it's fewer items to share the R&D expences.....
Indeed, I'm sure you are correct that the ARO Keel will sell less. However, the development, or rather modification, of the drawings required to produce the ARO version are pretty minimal.
Thank you Linn. I for one am very interested to hear this product as I am looking to upgrade my LP12. Hope its good!
