Anybody have any experience with these alternatives? (I know it is close to impossible to actually find a ripserver!)
Thanks
Jon

I have just got the AVA RS3 and I love it. Still wanting to write a short review, but haven't had the time so far...

I had a demo of both with my Majik DS. Both seemed to work fine and the dealer (studioAV) said they had quite a few RipServers, although the capacity was too low for me (only 500GB with file duplication), whilst the (early copy) Tranquil RS3 (1GB with file duplication) had problems ejecting CDs, which I gather is now fixed.

However you can now buy a much larger potential capacity WHS Tranquil Server (SQA-5H) with higher performance, Gigabit Ethernet plus the RipNAS Essentials automatic secure rip package (SW plus CD drive) for the same price, so that is what I decided to go for.

Many Thanks - I have ordered an RS3 (I needed to move in a hurry as mu Akurate DS arrives very soon :-) )

I have an AVA RS3, and I'm very impressed with it.

There are a few issues with Windows Home Server that can occur, but the WHS Forums are extremely helpful (http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US...omeserver/).

One thing to be aware of (it caught me out) is that if you are using the OpenDNS DNS servers, you may have problems accessing the RS3 via the WHS Console, as the non-standard OpenDNS servers somehow make other servers with the same name (RS3SERVER2) visible via the internet, which causes confusion... The fix is to use standard DNS servers instead (e.g. your ISP's).
