Hi, could anyone give me a list of Linn Amps (past & present) that can take stereo Aktiv cards.

From memory,

LK85, LK140, AV5125 (2 stereo, 1 mono), 2250, Klimax twin, Majik-I, all Chakra amps (C2XXX, C3XXX, C4XXX, C5XXX).

Don't know about the Classik series but I think they also do.

Thanks for the reply, I already have an Aktiv system but am thinking of upgrading my treble amp which is a LK140. I use a AV2250 for Bass.

Actually, Vic's not quite right, as the newer amps (Chakra, Majik and Akurate) take the new mono cards. The old Majik-I uses the old mono cards, and I'm not sure about the Klimax twin.

If you want to upgrade from your LK140 and reuse the same card, the only real option is a 2250.

One free tweak you might like to try is to swap your LK140 and 2250 over. Although it seems counter-intuitive to put the more powerful amp on the tweeter which draws less current, the reasoning is that the 2250 is a higher quality amp, and you can hear the improvement more on the tweeter than the bass. This is apparently the official Linn recommendation (doesn't really apply to me, all of my amps are the same!).

Definitely not the Klimax Twin! You have to use a seperate Tunebox with Klimax amps and then you can't use the active cards like other Linn amps. Apparently, as I found out just recently, you have to specify the speakers to be used and even then not all are covered it seems.

Good point about the use of the better amp for the treble.

Yes : Klout (2 mono cards).

The info he requested was for stereo cards, not mono.
