I know this may be a little Taboo!
However, I am connecting an apple TV to a 90's Linn Classik.
Would bridging a DAC between the apple TV and Classik improve the output to a pair of Tukans?
Toslink out to DAC then analog into Classik.
Thanks you in advance.
Depends on the DAC.
If you can get a Numerik (With a £20 Toslink - Coax) converter then definatly.

A lot of folk have made good things happen by adding a reasonably priced DAC... check other forums for ideas... there's quite a few for around the £200 mark.
It might be argued that the analog output of the apple tv may not be as good as the toslink digital, but all things considered, there may be better ways of improving the sound of your system other than by a DAC.
Doesn't the newer Classik have a digital input for this kind of thing?
I'm running my iTunes library wirelessly to an apple airport express device (little plug top receiver) and the mini-toslink from that into my Linn AV 5103. The sound is very very good, especially with lossless files - I haven't used my Ikemi in a while to be honest... love the convenience of controlling iTunes with the ipod touch.
However... I'd love to hear this set-up through a different DAC too, but can't say I relish another box and a set of wires... the 5103 is very neat.
