It was always my impression that the first trampolin was more of a situational/envoirnmental upgrade...depending on what the lp12 sat on...I think even Linn marketed it this way. So now the Tramp 2 is an improvememnt over Tramp1. Well I never had tramp 1. My table is wall mounted, dead level, on acrylic reference quadraspire shelf. In a month ill have all SE upgrades except tramp 2 (if that's really an se upgrade I'm not sure). Thoughts? If anything I want to get it separate, not with any other upgrade. The other challenge is that my.dealer is 2 1/2 hours one way...

Hi Bonzo, good idea, tho' some folks say tramp is for shelves and light table for non tramp. So when you get tramp2 it will be a big difference.I always like to do upgrades separately anyway saves money in the long run cause no matter what you buy you're going to want to spend again 14 months down the line.I spoke to a quadraspire anorak and he slated the Tramps, but then maybe he's got Naim amps. When it comes to the LP12 upgrades dont question Linn;just do as you're told 'cause any future developments they do the latest LP12 will be reference.....'that new blah blah doesn't sound good..yeh but you dont have the Tramp2 '..I can hear it already.Tramp2 is SE upgrade IMHO(aluminium)

Trampolin 2 offers a grounded aluminium plate which stiffens plinth and probably improves shielding too and I have a feeling these are its major benefits. Tramp2 also works very will with Quadraspire wallshelves - in fact its the best sounding arrangement for LP12 I've ever had. Did you try a wooden shelf on your Quadraspire?

BTW, I didn't like Tramp1 at all.
Hi bonzo,
Have you listened the turntable with no bottom cover. My experience is that Sondek sounds better with no trampolinn and/or solid base because they add colorations.
Save your money avoiding these silly and expensive accessories.

Mino
LP12/Aro/Armageddon sounds better with no bottom cover and stick on 3M feet but LP12/SE is better with Tramp2, IME.
I'm using mine with no bottom cover at the mo'...... not intentially but because I'm playing with an assortment of tonearm leads..... while can't be sure how it differs with the standard base board (not alloy), if at all, I can say it sounds pretty good without it. The catch tho' it is isolated by a siesmic sink stand so you could say it is sitting on a very large Trampolin!!!
That's cheatingSmile

The point of the Trampolin isn't that it is a large slab. The Trampolin absorbs vibrations due to its 4 vibration absorbing diaphragm made from acoustic dampening material (polypropylene?).

The siesmic sink does similiar things, decoupled from floor vibrations by air. You could say the Tramp is trying to achieve the same thing or reduce vibrations that enter the baseboard... either from the deck itself or from the shelf it is sitting on.

Apologies for my incorrect presuposition, I assumed it was just a large slap of something heavy.
