Hi All,
Over the last while we've been working on a new UI for Pda's. We've made considerable progress and it is now available for beta test.
Beta software is only suitable for users willing to put up with software that may occasionally crash, potentially causing instability on your DS network. We believe the software is quite good, but are very keen to hear of any issues you encounter, particularly regarding usability, wireless, and discovery. However, the _only_ support for beta test software is through this developer forum. Your retailer and the Linn helpdesk can only help you with officially released software.
More information, including screenshots, is available here:

A simple question:
Will this work with any PDA ? My guess is that it would only work with PDA's that have wifi but I am not sure.
I guess it only works with Windows Mobile 6 and 6.1, am i right?
For people with a bit older stuff, is support for Mobile 5 just to forget?
Also very interesting to know is:
What about different screen resolutions? 640x480 is perhaps the highest resolution on common pda's, but soon a couple of interesting options with 800x480 will emerge, will Kinsky support those ?

This is addressed in the system requirements section of http://oss.linn.co.uk/trac/wiki/DownloadKinskyPda

We're keen to support the most commonly used resolutions. As you suggest, that's currently 640x480. Another one we'd be keen to add support for is 320x240. If others like 800x480 become common, we can look into those too.

Your guess is correct. For further information see the system requirements section of: http://oss.linn.co.uk/trac/wiki/DownloadKinskyPda
Hi
Can this be persuaded to work on a Win XP (tablet edition) web tablet (like my Q1)?

Struggling to make this work on an Axim x51v...
Initially I got an error about the .Net support, so I upgraded to Version 2.0 of .Net via MSFT's site.
Now I get the following error:
An unexpected error has ocurred in KinskyPda.exe, where Details reveals...
TypeLoadException
Could not load type
'Linn.Control.AppControl' from assembly
'ControlOssCf, Version=0.0.0.0,
Culture=neutral, PublicKeyTOken=null'.
any help?

Hi netim3,
You need to install the .NET v3.5 runtime - here is a link to the download page, http://www.microsoft.com/Downloads/detai...laylang=en
Let me know how you get on,
David
Thanks David, worked a treat.
I don't have volume buttons, presumably because I need to run a cable from the DS remote-out to my Kisto, or something else?
Also, when on the Now Playing screen, the links on the bottom presumably should be to "Playlist" and "Library", but I'm getting "Now Playing" instead of "Playlist"... so I need to navigate via the Library to access the Playlist screen.
It's nice and responsive.
When I hit the "i" for info on a playlist, any reason why you couldn't show more of the available tags for each track?
tks

Not without some source code changes. For performance reasons, KinskyPda requires the use of some apis that are specific to WindowsMobile.
