Hi all,
As a birthday pressie to myself I have decided to get my TT serviced and correctly setup. I would like to get the Tonearm correctly set up and generally have my LP12 fettled to with an inch of its life. I have heard that there people on this forum which can properly setup the old beast. Can anyone make any recommendations. I'm prepared to travel anywhere in the UK, I just want the best I can get for the LP12!!
Thanks
Rex.
I live in Oslo, Norway, and use Peter Swain from Cymbiosis in Leicester, UK. That sounds like a recommendation, or what....

I too would say Peter at Cymbiosis in Leicester. My LP12 went there a couple of weeks ago and it now sounds fantastic, Peter took the thing appart and rebuilt it. I had the cirkus upgrade too and the latest Trampolin upgrades fitted. I even stayed there and watched him do the whole thing, a great experience.

Colin Macey at Martin Kleiser, Beaconsfield - 01494 681300 - extraordinarily nice chap, has much experience in LP12 setting up, and brews a mean cup of coffee.
Mick.
Derek Jenkins at Infidelity in Kingston.
All three of these are well known and have exemplary reputations as does the chap at Grahams. It all boils down to geography. I know both Derek and Peter and they are both extremely helpful and very friendly and will have your LP12 singing.

Ian Rocchi at Ultimate in Gloucestershire without doubt.
And you get a nice visit to the Cotswolds when you visit them!
Enjoy!
Hi everybody! I am a newcomer, nice to meet you all!
I'm located in Rome, Italy.
My LP12 was firstly set up in 1987, here, by Derek Jenkins, who came expressedly, after selling it to me in London.
I can say he made an extremely painstaking and accurate job, and he was very kind and friendly.
After that, other persons did some set up here.
But I was always somehow unsatisfied with the way such or such record would sound.
Recently, I had my LP12 serviced, always here, by Peter-Doc Cymbiosis-Swain.
Even the most "difficult", (in the sense of bad sounding) records are now playing excellently, and Peter even did the whole set up of my hifi: cheking cables, soldering if needed, levelling, redirecting cables in right way, adding spacers when needed, settling everything in such an incredibly efficient way, that my TT (and my whole system, actually) never sounded so good since I bought it!
I had hard time admitting the paramount effect such (apparently) simple interventions, if properly done, could have!!
But they do, and now, I am extremely glad Peter came, and, furthermore, no one is allowed to put hands on my hifi from now on, but Mr Swain.
By the way, the most easy going guy I ever met in my life, a very pleasant and gentleman like one.
ALL my recordings - no matter chamber music, classical orchestra, jazz ensemble of all kind, rock, blues, both electrical and acoustic, they all sound good (from good to excellent, according to various ages, recording skill, etc.).
I hope this helps to making a choice.
Goodbye to everyone
Andrea

David at The Sound Organisation York is highly recommended!
