On the Twonkyforum someone suggested that embedded albumart is robust in Twonky. It gets displayed always.
The Folder.jpg route is not always displaying albumart on my Kinsky pda.
Question:

Is there a sonic reason or other reason not to use the tag for albumart?

Embedded albumart in Twonky only currently supports MP3 tags, hence albumart embedded in flac files does not get served by Twonky, so the Folder.jpg method is the only way to get albumart for non-mp3 from Twonky

No - tags themselves have no sonic impact (though they may be interpreted to modify the audio - such as replaygain)

Things are maybe better than you all think

Twonky does now 'see' the album art in FLAC tags; cant remember whan it appeared but it was there in 4.4.6 too. It sees all my art and many of my early rips do not have any jpg's at all; only the FLAC embedded art.

I am judging this by what is displayed in the Twonky web browser GUI though, whether this is extended to a UPnP control point is another matter!

Anyway, nope, kinskypda doesnot see any embedded albumart. it shows the no albumart logo, on the albums where there is a Folder.jpg it does not show that.
So twonky may or may not support embedded art, kinskypda does not show any(tested on flac). Whether it works on mp3 I don't know.
