Dear Brian,

Thank you for posting Twonky server update and valuable tree.
I'd like to update Twonky and apply your tree.

I have very basic question.

My NAS is QNAP TS-212.
Which QPKG should I use?
I suppose that QPKG for TS-x10 is fit to TS-212.
Is it correct.

Hi

Yes, that is correct; it is the middle one which is titled 'Marvell based Qnaps (TS-x10 & TS-x19)'. Download that, then unzip it (you'll get a file called 'TwonkyMedia_6.0.34_arm-x19.qpkg') then install it.

Dear Brian,

Thank you for your reply.
I will update Twonky and try your tree.

The custom file still does everything that it should for things like Songbook and Chorus, but it automatically sets all other devices to receive full resolution art, which means you don't have to bother remembering to set it yourself.

The file can be downloaded here

It seems like the custom clients.db file is currently missing, maybe due to the revamping of the Linn website.

Is this available somewhere else?

Hi

Well spotted! You are 100% correct and thank you for alerting me to that one as I'd completely missed it. As part of the Linn website revamp, I was demoted from the posh and very exclusive Linn server, to a temporary spot on the far less upmarket Linn news server; if I keep upsetting folks at my current rates, by next month I'll likely end up on a partially broken ReadyNAS sitting atop the cistern of the Linn public bogs ! Big Grin

The file can now be downloaded here and I've also updated the link at the bottom of the very first post I'm thie thread.

Thx so much, no upsetting here. Your trees and Twonky 6.0.34 are running very nicely on my QNAP 119. Finally Folder.jpg Artwork really seems to work in Twonky 6.

(As an intermediate solution for clients.db, I had modified the XM,TR and DB lines for the Generic Media receiver myself, which seems close to your solution.)

The funny thing is - I actually do have a partially broken ReadyNAS operating within 2 metres of said cistern. It's directly through the wall, in the adjacent Comms room, streaming the media for the Linn reception area Klimax DS system - running SP's Twonky 6.0.34, and your latest (artist-only) trees. Needs a kick in the pants occasionally (the NV+es always did in my experience) but otherwise it's pretty good.

Don't think it would be reliable enough for serving your esteemed content 24/7 though, so I'll see if our resident Linux sysadmin can create a virtualized partially-broken-ReadyNAS image on our new HP Proliant mega-server stack just for you. Wink

I see it's your 60th today - Happy Birthday! And have a great party. Big Grin

By the way, I know you're a bit of a malt-o-phile judging from some of your previous posts, so I guess you will already know Ardmore. I just discovered it recently - it's just been "re-released" apparently, and shares some secrets (and smoke!) with Laphroig, its sister distillery. I'm most impressed. So far I've just tried the "basic" version http://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/P-7234.aspx If you haven't discovered it yet, I'd strongly recommend it for a birthday tipple! - but since it is your 60th, you might want to really treat yourself: http://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/P-10256.aspx Tongue

Not exactly cheap - but it is less than half the price of the 21 year-old!

Hi Chris

I don't mind which make of server I end up on, as long as it's not running that W*****s stuff; I'd rather stay on the CludgieNAS and take my chances! Mind you, I guess you most likely haven't installed WHS on the internal Proliant server farm, so that could be okay! Tongue

I haven't tried the Ardmore, but it does sound an interesting one (I didn't know it was related to the 'Leapingfrogjuce'). I absolutely love the Ardbeg ones, but I've been having a search for them recently and it seems they are out of stock everywhere; it's most odd. I worry that I keep stating how fantastic it is (on this forum) and I'm now concerned that I've got too many new folks guzzling it, thus leaving none for me to guzzle! So, my message to everyone here is 'don't try Ardbeg, you'll hate it' Big Grin

In the absence of any Ardbeg, I've been ruthlessly tackling a new bargain find in the local supermarket; 43% ABV, 12 YO Caol Ila for only £25. It seems a little less extreme than I remember from the 10 YO stuff, but that said, the last time I had Caol Ila it was cask stuff with a kick like a mule, so maybe that's what I'm 'picturing' when I think of Caol Ila. Anyhow, it's a stormingly nice dram (and astoundingly cheap) so I'll be testing it again this evening to ensure it's not going off!

Stock up while you can, matey. I've just been out to my local and they're out of stock. Sad

That very sound advice is more prudent than you might at first think as I've just ars.., err, just upended the whisky bottle and am thus now lapsing into a state of acute whisky-deprivation panic, several bright-red 'low fluid level' alarm warning lamps have just illuminated on my minibar's control panel, and I'll thus either have to stick black insulating tape over them to hide the warning bulbs, or dig my wallet out (staving off the inevitable moth attacks) and seek some more of the Caol Ila 'sanity juice' before I run the risk of having to acknowledge the existence of the real world; it's an alarming concept on so many different levels (particularly the ones that are now flashing 'empty')!
