I'll PM you with my email address. Bri RE: [How to] change Twonky 6 menus (trees) in the new Qnap QPKG (and on other NAS's) - Mihaylov - 2012-07-15 18:29 I replaced original Briain's names (-Artists Albums-, -All Albums-, -List All Tunes-, etc.) in the file view-definitions.xml by ones (artistalbum, all, alltracks, etc.) that are available in russian translation base of Twonky (in the file strings-ru.txt) and that' all! I use Artists only version w/o playlists and onlineservices. I could not find the view-definitions file path using PuTTY so I used WinSCP (which you suggested on Qnap's forums to another user) and successfully uploaded your custom trees. WinSCP made it much easier. BTW - not experiencing any disk spin ups with Twonky 6.0.39. Now comes the task of making sure all my tags are correct. thanks RE: [How to] change Twonky 6 menus (trees) in the new Qnap QPKG (and on other NAS's) - alexbrotherton - 2012-08-03 11:18 Hi I'm new to the forum. I joined after this thread offered the solution for the alphabetical sorting of tracks problem on the QNAP NAS using Twonky. The thread seems to be a god-send and I'll be giving the solution a try over the week end. I did have a question though. Will the new trees affect the viewing of other media. I'm specifically referring to video and photo's that are also stored in the Qmultimdia share which I view thorugh my smart TV. RE: [How to] change Twonky 6 menus (trees) in the new Qnap QPKG (and on other NAS's) - Briain - 2012-08-03 15:19 Hi There are several menus selectable in the standard version of Twonky (Advanced Media View, Mobile View, etc). The custom music containers within my custom trees only show when selecting the 'Advanced Media View' (which is the default one) and that keeps the same picture and video menu items as would be shown when using the standard Twonky trees (when set to 'Advanced Media View'). So in other words, yes, it does maintain the picture and video menu items from the standard Twonky package. Bri RE: [How to] change Twonky 6 menus (trees) in the new Qnap QPKG (and on other NAS's) - alexbrotherton - 2012-08-04 08:25 Hi, thanks Brian. I'm trying to make sure that I have all my tagging set up correctly prior to making the changes to Twonky. I'm using Tag on a Mac (which I know from reading the thread you don't use!) I want to make sure that albums are sorted correctly, especially if the albums are a compilation, with multiple different artists and if the album has many tracks where the song has the main artist "featuring" another artist, which can be a feature of many dance tracks. Is there an additional tag (maybe ALBUMARTIST) that I should be making sure I complete? (I'm guessing at this from looking into the XML files, but to tell you the truth reading XML is not a skill of mine!) Tag doesn't natively support an ALBUMARTIST field, but it can be added easily. RE: [How to] change Twonky 6 menus (trees) in the new Qnap QPKG (and on other NAS's) - Briain - 2012-08-04 11:51 Hi Yes, I have a lot of compilations and I use a single AlbumArtist entry for every album I have. What that means is that I now use AlbumArtist to navigate to my music about 99.999% of the time. The only time I'd use artist would be to find a contributing artist on one of the compilations. As I had to create these tags myself, I took the opportunity to use 'Surname, Fist Names' format for the AlbumArtist tags, but I just left all the artist ones as they come from the www (i.e. from Freedb etc). Examples would be as below: AlbumArtist=Pink Floyd Artist=Pink Floyd AlbumArtist=Bowie, David Artist=David Bowie AlbumArtist=Peel, John Artist=Buzzcocks Artist=Stiff Little Fingers Artist=The Cure ...etc. Bri RE: [How to] change Twonky 6 menus (trees) in the new Qnap QPKG (and on other NAS's) - alexbrotherton - 2012-08-04 19:39 Thanks for the speedy responses! RE: [How to] change Twonky 6 menus (trees) in the new Qnap QPKG (and on other NAS's) - alexbrotherton - 2012-08-05 14:16 Hi, I did the upgrade of my Twonky server today and it has worked a treat! So grateful, I can now browse my music library in track order rather than alphabetical order. I thought I would mention a couple of hints for things that stumped me for a little while while I was following the steps. Hopefully these will help anyone else doing this from a Mac. The equivalent of Putty in Mac world is "Terminal", it can be found in the applications directory. To log onto your NAS you need to: 1) Select from the menu Shell>>New Remote Connection... 2) In the entry box at the bottom of the dialogue box you need to type "ssh admin@your NAS IP address 3) Enter your admin password in the new terminal window that opens. Note, the cursor will not move as you type in the password, then hit enter. I also discovered (which may be obvious to some) that when entering the directory names, they are case sensitive. Other than that it was a pretty smooth process. Thanks to all who posted throughout this thread, It was a real god-send for me. |
