In my room only a 'black' plinth makes sense, but something like the above Wenge but biased more towards being black could work.

Any ideas?

Something in ebony?

The natural variation in grain and colour of the Wenge plinths means that some are quite a bit darker than others. Like you i wanted a CH plinth, and one that was on the 'blacker' side (it was replacing a black ash plinth). After looking through most of Peter's stock i was very happy with the Wenge plinth i had fitted . The finish was superb and it looks great with all the black gear around it in my system.

The ebony one on your site Chris looks quite 'brown'.

The grain on the Wenge one on this page looks stunning, if one was like that - but predominantly black but shot through with a bit of lighter wood - that would work very well.

Yes, that one tends toward brown, but I love it just the same..

Gaboon Ebony is what you are looking for. It is black, with faint grey streaks, and polishes to a gorgeous sheen ( not so shiny, as just plain amazing)

I will post some photos later this week of what Gaboon Ebony looks like, curly Gaboon Ebony at that!

and 50 or so other plinths....
