The good ones sound so good it almost impossible to listen to the bad. Ain't that a bugger ? My experience is in fact that the better my LP12 gets the better the bad recordings sounds as well, i.e. they became more listenable than before. RE: Woodsong Plinths - Count.d - 2012-01-21 20:33 That looks nice Chris Do you have any Walnut ongoing at the moment? I will again though, sometime soon. I have been spending all my money on Rosewoods and Ebony, the stuff that is difficult to find.. I am about to purchase some bamboo, I think there is a lot of promise for LP12 plinths in that material. And will it result in a hollow sounding LP12? RE: Woodsong Plinths - Chris H - 2012-01-21 21:38 It will look very tropical... like Gilligan's Island.... No, actually, what I understand is that the timber bamboo is nicked with a chisel, uniformly at every 'culm', then the bamboo is placed under boards and driven over by a car. (this is in Vietnam, where there is a lot of bamboo processing going on for the world market) The resulting strips are milled to precision rectangles, then glued and pressed together, surfaced into lumber. The material is very stable, durable, beautiful, cool stuff. Mud, If you want, I will build a plinth from a bamboo tube just for you...
