RE: Woodsong Plinths - The Flatearther - 2012-05-05 13:40 Chris I know someone who has 2 church pews hundreds of years old as his dining room chairs but has grown tired of them. How would you get them to the US? Flat RE: Woodsong Plinths - Chris H - 2012-05-05 20:48 If they are nice pews, I would have slight difficulty seeing them cut up. Otherwise, they would be cut up, and sent as parcels. Sounds like a lot of wood. Oak like that might make a lot of really cool plinths! Hmmmm...... I will need to arrange for some 'feet on the ground' think I might have some ideas, as well as knowing some folks who might like some of the 'off-cut'. I would not want to create waste, or not make a move that was overall, beneficial. I do know a couple fine woodworkers over that side of the pond. Can you send photos to me? Chris I'll speak to my friend Ian this week and see if he is still wanting to get shot of them. I bagsie the first plinth though before anyone else gets their grubby paws on one! LOL Flat RE: Woodsong Plinths - Chris H - 2012-05-05 23:26 cool.. and if the wood was just right, and the waste little, I would probably still butcher some pews. Would be very cool to have a plinth built with history like that. Looking at some bog Oak right now too.. RE: Woodsong Plinths - Gaius - 2012-05-06 19:14 Hey, looks like you found some oak Chris, nice one !
