My Renew DS has been working perfectly for the last few months. Connected to a 100Mbps switch and getting DHCP address from an attached router.
It worked fine last night, but now the bugger won't get an IP address. Safe to say that 2 laptops, iPad and PVRs all getting DHCP addresses OK.
What is the sequence to force the DS to renew its network config? i.e. drop whatever DHCP address it has got in its lease and seek a new one. Tried powering off, standby in/out etc.
Help...when I've just sat down to start work for the evening, its frustrating that this happens...keep thinking...well an LP either played or it didn't...

Just to complete the picture - have you rebooted the router as well? (and the switch to be 100% sure!). Then reboot the DS again.
Worth trying (doesn't give the full answer - but gets the music flowing again).

Leave a minute or two after rebooting the router before doing the same to your DS too...

Well I just lost 2 hours of my life...all the time thinking 'FFS, vinyl doesn't do this'.
Rebooted router...no effect on the DS, but it did kill my Internet, the phone call my wife was on and the TV show she was streaming between rooms. Multiple reboots, power-cycles and reconnecting FINALLY got it working.
And yet still no DS. Finally, after deleting the DHCP lease, powering up disconnected from the LAN, it came good.
I gave it a DHCP reservation, as there was no obvious way to assign it a static IP address, and progressively doing the same for all other devices on the LAN.
Thanks for the suggestions - they did eventually do the trick, albeit with some friendly fire.

Am I correct in assuming you cannot set a static IP address for a DS?
If so this is a _major_ oversight in the software.

This is correct - however, it's not an oversight. As I understand it, to adhere rigidly to the UPnP standard, you can not have a static IP address for a renderer.
However, a reserved address in the DHCP server is fine.
