Do you think the 2002 DVD-A version is a different mix to the current remaster?
I have read about, that the new Vinyl is pretty close to the remasterd (HD)CD, of course a bit more warm and three-dimensional.
Comparsion of different master copies is always a bit delicate...

Fascinating read into two men who strive for quality playback.The first is one of the worlds best musicians the other one of the worlds best hifi makers, quite a combination.

I haven't looked into it. There's always the issue with different remasters. My first impression was simply that there was "more" in the vinyl version. It's a bit ineffable.

KDS, LP-12/Radikal/Ekos 2/Akiva --> Uphorik/D --> stuff.

RE: Listening to the 'Harvest' Studio Master with Neil Young
'tis always evident in NY's live sets - the Hi NRG - and the childlike enthusiasm. Nay that should read 'youthful'. He really cares about the music and has an insiders knowledge about the process.

I'm glad to read there's hope yet for the audiophile despite the onslaught of compressed file-types and their minions at the other end of the (white?) earbuds (don't get me wrong I'd feel naked without them at the gym and while travelling and to listen to much 'spoken word').

Cannot envision success for another propriety format and compatible vehicle to deliver the sound, it's becoming pretty obvious that convergence is the way fwd, the information's the 'thing' and it's implementation can vary.

I've obviously been out for a while, but there are many like me who feared quality audio was getting pushed into the darkest tiniest place or the domain of the absurdly well-to-do. One by one I am seeing the enthusiast fanboi's fall . . . maybe it's just a life stage thing.
