Cara update path advice

Hello Linn DS users,

In order to compare the sound of different Cara releases, is it possible to install a Cara 7 on a Cara 6, and then a Cara 9, and then back a Cara 4, and then Cara 6 maybe... or is there an upgrade path to be folowed?

as long as you have the Cara upgrade files, there should be no particular order in which you flash the firmware, just try one version then another - simples

Do the files have to be unzipped - or can they be used directly as downloaded from Linn (i.e. zipped)?

They have to be used zipped. Just select the zipped file from the Konfig.

A related question please.

Can you use the current version of Konfig to install any previous version of Cara, or do you ever need to use the corresponding release of Konfig? In other words, is Konfig always backward compatible? I'd like to try Cara 1.

It should be backward compatible - anything with Cara in the name should work with other Cara software.
