I did the comparison yesterday (Sneaky --> KK vs. Sneaky/digital volume control --> 4200).

Sneaky --> KK is clearly better. More musical and better sound. Sneaky with digital volume control sounds a bit thin and lifeless in comparison.

That said, the internal volume control of the Sneaky is still very good, probably on Akurate Kontrol level (by no means Kolektor level). So adding an entry level pre-amp wouldn't make sense.
