RE: [How to] change Twonky 6 menus (trees) in the new Qnap QPKG (and on other NAS's)
Hi Yurkot
To your first question; yes, it should be under add-on's and thus it is correct. To your second question, you're faster to rip to the PC first, then drag and drop the albums onto the NAS. If you wish to rip directly to the NAS, you could map a drive from the Windows PC to the NAS (you already have a 'C' drive in your PC, and likely the 'D' drive is your DVD). The idea is to pick a free drive letter (say 'M' for media) and assign that (something like* 'tools' then 'map network drive') to point to the NAS media share; it then looks like just another drive in Windows Explorer. You can then more conveniently drag and drop stuff into the [for example] M:\Music\FLAC folder and that would put it on the NAS, or if you wish to set dBpa to rip directly to the NAS, you'd set it's destination path to point to where your rips reside on the NAS (for example M:\Music\FLAC). Hope that hepls Bri * I say 'something like' as I don't have Win 7 to tell you exactly where it is (I use XP). |

Thanks Bri so now my question is how do I map that drive and give it a name for mapping. When I followes direcrions on windows 7 how to map a drive in the drop down it gives me a whole bunch of names to map but the nas doesn't have a name (like z or something) I know its ip address how do I name it so windows explorer finds it
Thanks again |

Hello,
I am a newbie in Linux and might made a mistage, but after I done all the above steps I do not see any music directories in my Linn Kinsky application nor in my MediaMonkey overview. I run a QNAP 459 II Pro with the latest 3.5.1 (1002T) FW and the latest Twonky SW release. Why is the Twonky server not showing my music directories anylonger? I can use the directory access in Kinsky, but not the access by artist etc. ![]() Version: 6.0.34 Cache memory: 389 KB Last database change: 15:27:18 Music tracks: 0 ----> empty??? RE: [How to] change Twonky 6 menus (trees) in the new Qnap QPKG (and on other NAS's)
Look at the "UPnP Media Server" page in the QNAP GUI - under "Application Servers". Both "Enable UPnP Media Server" and "After enabling this service, click the following link to enter UPnP Media Server configuration page." should be ticked.
You only need to install the QPKG if you want to modify the trees or other Twonky system files. (If you modify them on the bundled Twonky, the QNAP may overwrite them - very annoying!) |

Is necessary the "Linux-network"? Cheers. EDIT: In the second Nas I reinstall the "firm" and work fine !! Thank´s. ufff! my english is poor... (with my mac-dictionary is better)

RE: [How to] change Twonky 6 menus (trees) in the new Qnap QPKG (and on other NAS's)
Hi
I have just sent Oliverh an email containing four new tree packs. There are two existing trees (one for folks who use albumartist, and another for folks who don't) and two of the ones I've sent are updated versions to suit these existing users (they add a new feature). There are also two completely new trees which have virtually no grouping. One is to suit the albumartist users and another to suit everyone else. These will be ideal for folks with only a small few hundred albums. Once I know they have been put on the Linn server, I'll update the initial post to mark the existing ones as being previous versions and the new ones as being the current recommended versions. Bri |

RE: [How to] change Twonky 6 menus (trees) in the new Qnap QPKG (and on other NAS's)
Hi
Updated and new custom Twonky tree packs I'd expect Linn are seriously busy making big and heavy musical type stuff before they break for NY, so I've made the four Twonky tree pack options available on the Qnap forum (see here) in case anyone needs them now. Bri ![]() (NB For advanced users - who might have custom shortcut tree files - the only changes are in view-definitions.xml files, so in that circumstance, the appropriate new view-definitions.xml file can be used to overwrite the one in the previous custom tree pack, without messing up any custom shortcut files) |
