Cara6 - Trouble with multiple http access

RE: Cara6 - Trouble with multiple http access
I am glad I spotted this thread...my question was whether Cara/Kinsky Desktop would support Last FM, which Alex has implemented on Leia already. (BTW Alex, I cannot get mine to work - keeps coming up with an error type 4 on the Nokia)

Overall though, I am very pleased with the performance of RadioTime on my KDS & SneakyDS; Was using my PC to control it, but now that I have discovered Leia does it too it is great; Will wait for Songbook to updated when past Beta. (I use Songbook on an iTouch, my wife likes Leia on the Nokia!).

Now to sell off the Kudos Tuner!

Main room: KDS/D, KK2, 'K' LP12, 3 x Klout into Aktiv Kabers (not tossing these), Teledyne sub; Elsewhere: Renew DS, Sneaky DS, Komponents - long live real music!

When exactly do you get the "error type 4"? And what is the complete error message?

How much do you want for it? Where is it located?

RE: Cara6 - Trouble with multiple http access
Axel,

Firstly my apologies for getting your name wrong (it was too early in the morning). Secondly the delay in responding - the lovely Ronnie from Sound Gallery came around to change the tweeters in my activ Kabers and we ended up playing with all sorts of things. We tested the Last FM together & the error we get after responding to the "Replace Playlist' prompt is:

An error occured when playing Last FM radio
The user needs to be subscribed in order to use the Radio API
method= Radio.Tune
Error code 4.

I have a free account on Last FM which works on my PC & iPod Touch. Axel, as per earlier note - perhaps you can drop me an email & we can take other discussions off the Forum. I had to use this as I could not see a page to report problems on Leia. kanabeanz@gmail.com

The applications developed by Last.fm can do what Last.fm want them to, but I'm forced to use the documented API to access Last.fm Radio. And this API only works for subscribed (=paying) Last.fm customers. See also http://www.lastfm.de/api/radio: "Who can I stream radio to? Any API account can only stream radio to Last.fm's paid subscribers." For that reason you get the above error message from Last.fm. (The error code 4 and error text "The user needs to be subscribed in order to use the Radio API" is returned from Last.fm when Leia tries to access the Last.fm Radio service using your user name & password.)

The next sentence is also quite interesting: "Note: Due to licensing restrictions, you may not use the radio API on mobile telephones." So in fact Last.fm is allowed to build a Last.fm Radio application for the iPhone, but developers like me are not! (Fortunately the Nokia N8x0 isn't a mobile telephone. Cool )

Since your problem is a quite common one I decided to respond here. This thread was already hijacked anyway Big Grin

Yes, there isn't any, but you'll find my e-mail address on http://leia.sommerfeldt.f-m.fm and within the "About" dialog of Leia. And of course problems can be reported in this forum (or Lejonklou's one).

Axel

P.S.: No problem regarding my name, I'm used to that. For that reason you can also call me "Bruce" if you like to (see http://orangecow.org/pythonet/sketches/bruces.htm) or "Meow" (like my cats call me), I don't mind. Wink

@Oliver, Keith, Chris, Bri

I think we have had our wrists well and truly slapped. Quite right too. Could this lead to the first quintuple banning? CoolBig GrinTongue
