RE: Solo Acoustic Guitar
Hi
Visoflex introduced me to Tommy Emmanuel a few years ago and I have to second his recommendation. I love acoustic guitar and have many favourites already mentioned.I have yet to see Leo Kottke live but have seen Tommy many times and have even asked him face to face to play a request which he has done on a couple of occasions.Like any great artist the experience is elevating and memorable. As well as his album "Only" being a good start check him out on YouTube. He is now so well known that when entering the name Tommy the request box will default to him as he has had so many "hits". Check out "Angelina" for beauty and "Guitar Boogie" for fun. Regards. Colin Macey. WYSAH Beaconsfield. www.whatyouseeandhear.com www.wysah.com |

RE: Solo Acoustic Guitar
I second the Leo Kottke suggestion, although if you're looking strictly for solo acoustic guitar you may be a bit disappointed as he can often sound like 3 people playing together!
I've seen him in concert twice and highly recommend seeing him perform if you get the opportunity. The first time I saw him perform he opened for Cowboy Junkies at a spectacular open air venue at the top of Silver Mountain in Idaho. What a fantastic evening! Besides his virtuoso playing his between songs stories are quite a riot. At one point during his set he switched guitars and sstarted strumming random cords and tuning up the new instrument. The audience sat silently watching him with rapt attention for several minutes when he looked up and said, "bad jazz." I was surprised at how many people got up and left after his set was over. Apparently many people showed up just to see Leo with no interest in the Cowboy Junkies. Their loss...they missed a great show!
