Akurate DS-I
How many of you would be interested in a high-end one box solution from Linn?
I am very happy with my Majik DS-I but would definitely consider an Akurate equivalent. |

RE: Akurate DS-I
In that case I think it would be sensible to put together the ADS and the AK into an ADSi e.g. without the power amp section. High quality, less expensive and slightly more versatile than a competely integrated unit as the MDSi.

I prefer the idea of having separate components when moving up into the higher-end line of products. This way I can upgrade one component at a time, as funds become available. This is what has allowed me to build my Akurate stereo music system over the past 7 years.....
AK KN/1, Bryston BCD-1, Bryston BDP-2/BDA-2, Rega RP6/RB303/TT-PSU, Dynavector DV-20X2 Low MC, Uphorik, 2xA/4200(d), A/212-MK2(aktiv), A/Stands, Skeets, A/226 Sub, Auralex SubDude(HD), HP EX490 Home Server [4x1TB]. |

Either the 232 is now regarded as 'not good enough' or, there may be the option of fitting a DS board to the AK at some stage. |

This will involve a major mindset shift from Linn - because this will only be worthwhile if it has digital inputs - unlike the ADS, and the Akurate preamp. |

I do not think that it would require any mind set changes from Linn, but I agree that a digital input would make it more versatile as it would be possible to plug, for example the TV-box into it without having to add an extra DAC. It seems Linn consider it more logical to have digital inputs on a pre-amp or integrated and I agree. To have an extra input on a source product, such as a DS is alot less logical to me. A DS is not just a DAC. It is much more, or less, depending on from where you come from. The main thing is that it is a better concept compared to the conventional DAC:s. |
