How to wake up LFE output on an EXOTIK
Hi !

I just get my self an AKURATE 226 sub Big Grin, and i can't make the EXOTIK(non DA)"LFE" output to work in a 2.1 config.....
So far in the preamp speaker setup, i have set
Subwoofer output to "YES"
i tried front speaker set to "LARGE" and "SMALL"
all the other suround speakers to "NONE" since it's 2.1
and still dead silent.
I have read somewhere that if the front speaker were set to "large" the LFE would not work but even set to "small" still dead
i'm i missing something here ?

Thanks !

RE: How to wake up LFE output on an EXOTIK
If it's a non-DA Exotik, then it has no audio decoding capability built in. As I understand it, the only way that you would get the sub working is if you connect a source up to the multi-channel inputs. Otherwise, the Exotik just sends the stereo input to the L&R outputs!

Sorry if that's not what you wanted to hear.

Are you trying to use it for music or movies?

Main System: Renew DS > Exotik+DA/D > A2200/D > 242s (mk2)
& A3200/D > 106c, 104c's (using Linn Silvers & K400, on Hutter rack)

Dining Room: Sneaky DS > Majik 109s (using "K200")
Bedroom: Majik DS > Tivoli Radio Model 3 + Companion Speaker

RE: How to wake up LFE output on an EXOTIK
hi
i'm trying to use it for both, music and movie...........but as you said, it was the conclusion that i was starting to see
that i would have to use the Exotik in multi-channel configuration to have it working, it was not very clear in the user guide.

i was looking for a majik answer i guess

Thank you for your answer !

I know it works because I had it once set-up that way in my Non-DA Exotic. If I recall correctly you need to press the surround button in your remote control so that the display shows subwoofer or surround (I don't exactly remember).

I'll be changing my setup in a week so I'll post back again.

RE: How to wake up LFE output on an EXOTIK
A non DA Exotik has a single "surround format" which is Stereo Sub if you have a stereo source connected and select this mode via the remote surround button then you should get a 2.1 signal output.

If in setup subwoofer is "yes" and front speakers are set to "small" and all other choices are "none" then all frequencies below 100Hz will be sent to the sub.

So your setup looks to be correct - you could try one of your stereo channels on the sub output to see if is working - it looks as though you might have a fault somewhere.

Only other thing is speaker calibration you may have the sub output set very low - on the std Exotik there is no test tone available so you need a test disc that outputs a test tone on each channel - needs to be playing on a multi-channel DVD source connected to at least L&R and sub inputs - whilst playing the disc go into speaker calibration and make the necessary adjustments to balance the output of the sub to the front speakers - if you can!

good luck
Keith

Finally it work, it was the surround button on the remote control that have to be use to set the final adjustment to "Stereo Sub" on the Exotik
so you can enable or disable the sub.
Thank you all for your help !

Good to hear everything worked out for you.

Now you need to update your signature to include the sub! Big Grin
