Upgrading iOS Apps
Some notes I've written which I thought may come in useful in the coming weeks.

# Upgrading iOS Apps

Sometimes when you upgrade your iOS app you wish you could go back to the previous release. Either because the new app doesn't work or you don't like changes to functionality or user interface. Here are a couple of steps you can take to ensure that with a little care you can go back to any previous version off the application.

Throught this note I refer to 'iPhone', but exactly the same rules apply to any iOS device (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch).

## Sync with you PC / Mac

With the old, working, version of the application installed on your iPhone
sync with iTunes & do a "Transfer Purchases". This will ensure that the
old version of the application is safely copied into your PC or Mac.

## Upgrade on your iOS device

Disconnect your iPhone from your PC / Mac & upgrade the application on your iPhone, *not* on your PC / Mac.

## Try out the new version

If you like the new version then job done. Sync with iTunes again & carry on as normal.

If you aren't happy with the new app then read on...

## Delete the app from your iOS device.

Press hold the home button on your iPhone for a few seconds then press the delete 'cross' to delete the application from your iPhone.

## Re-sync with iTunes

Reconnect your iPhone to your Mac / PC & re-sync with iTunes. The application should be re-installed. Unfortunately your settings will be lost; but at least you have the old loved verion of the application back!

# FAQ

Q: I've already upgraded the application & synced with iTunes, can I go back?
A: Sorry - that isn't possible.

Q: Can I downgrade to specific verions.
A: Yes. If your find the '.app' find in your iTunes library & take a copy of it the your can restore at a later date by re-copying the file into iTunes
(Drop onto the icon under OSX or over an open iTunes window under MS Windows)
