RE: YouTube Audio on the DS
Yes, very easy to setup, I just installed it on my laptop (Win7) and was prompted about opening up the relevant firewall ports. I then went into KinskyDesktop and was able to see an additional media server, "Jamcast", under which were three options (Virtual Soundcard, My Music, Podcasts). I selected the "Virtual Soundcard" option and was then able to hear the sound from my laptop through the DS!

The only gotcha was that if I pressed the "mute" button on the laptop the sound from the DS stopped...but I got round that by simply reducing the volume to zero which kept the external sound coming.

There is also a step mentioned in some of the other JamCast posts about removing the "L16" entry from the control point device, leaving "MPEG" only. I've done this, but it wasn't necessary to get sound out, and I've not tried yet to see if there's a real difference.

This in turn can feed out digitally to your DS-I, if you have one. Its clearly not going to be top quality, but at least you get the benefits of decent amplification and speakers.

The trouble is that this needs both an Airport Express/Apple TV and a DS-I, neither of which I have Sad

Main System: Renew DS > Exotik+DA/D > A2200/D > 242s (mk2)
& A3200/D > 106c, 104c's (using Linn Silvers & K400, on Hutter rack)

Dining Room: Sneaky DS > Majik 109s (using "K200")
Bedroom: Majik DS > Tivoli Radio Model 3 + Companion Speaker

You were running squeezebox server at one point Rowland? - for those that do You Tube audio is available as a plug in - a very simple way of getting the stream to a DS with full search/favourites/playlist etc

RE: YouTube Audio on the DS
Thank you for the info Rowland.

But the computer sounds are delayed like 2 seconds when they leave the ds, right? Or is everything in sync?

you can delay the video by 1.7 to 1.8 sec to get a sync,
no problem to watch bluray from PC then.

Were are the settings to allow the video to be delayed? I have just set this up and apart from being out of sync it is a nice feature to have. I am using WMP at the moment to try it out. I have a fw videos of my son's band and it is great to hear them through the DS.

Cheers, Bill.

Main System: Sneaky DS + 2250 Amp + K400 cable + Keilidhs (ReadyNAS Duo and Kinsky Jukebox)
2nd System in Study: Classik-K, Mission Speakers.

All views expressed in my posts are my own and if they offend anyone, then tough Wink

can't help with wmp, if you install VLC player, it's in
tools->track synchronization->advance of audio over video
