I was lucky to pick this one from WYSAH......Colin saved it.
However I'm still tempted.......Wink

Wood being wood you'll always gonna get a variety of looks for a plinth unless Linn specifically specify to make them as similar as possible, of which it looks like they do for the most part but to take it to extremes would cause a lot of wastage & higher prices so as I see from your pic some people get lucky....

This is my previous old plinth.......

Well, some of it Smile (not great photo's either)

I do prefer Chris's plinths because you get to choose what you buy rather than "given" what you buy. Most of Linn's plinths are very much understated, some do look rather nice but it is a gamble if you get one you really like.

Getting back on subject, this is the plinth from Chris I like the most. It belongs to Kuma. I don't know what species it is though.

RE: Woodsong Plinths
I thought the fluted cherry one that Chris posted pics of a while ago was very nice and elegant. I would definitely not mind owning that one.

That said, I tend to gravitate towards darker finishes in LP12 plinths.

I recently replaced my old Afro with a new Linn black ash one that has grown on me over time. It has a nice, broad, wavy pattern to it that reminds me of the swamp ash on Fender guitars. There is a nice satin sheen to it as well. They are much nicer than what I remember older black ones being.

Boring, boring, boring. Sorry. Smile

AGREED! I have an original Linn Maple plinth. While nice at the beginning - as Andy quotes - after a few years Boring...boring...boring. And lets not speak of the fact that Maple always yellows - and not in the most attractive way Sad

With that said Chris is working on a custom plinth for me Big Grin

RE: Woodsong Plinths
Kuma's plinth is Curly Maple, analine dyed black, then clearcoated in a full polished automotive urethane. I am doing another curly Maple plinth at this moment dyed Ferrari red, ala Paul Reed Smith (guitars)

and Honeymonster, brace yourself, photos of the most 'bling' plinth to date are coming soon. Off the charts bling...

not all the plinths are bling, some are definitely more subtle.
