What is the Kinsky Plug-in System?

Question What is the Kinsky Plug-in System?
According to the LinnOss manual for Kinsky:
"Kinsky Plugin System
◦Allows almost endless supply of media through 3rd party providers
◦Simple install, uninstall and upgrade procedure"

Can anyone advise where these plug-ins are to be found?

I would like a plug-in which allows me to play last.fm stream. Is there one available?

Is there any advice on how to create these plug-ins?

PS I posted this in the Linn DS forum and didn't get a reply from Linn.

Where in the manual did you see this statement? There was mention of the plugin system on the overview page for Kinsky but that was a copy and paste error and has been corrected.

As of Davaar all the available plugins for a platform are now included. Some of the less widely used plugins are disabled by default on KinskyDesktop but they can be enabled in the options.

There is no last.fm plugin. Media provider plugins just provide a way for a user to browse content and then add desired content to their DS. last.fm does not really fit into this model as its more about providing some filters (which you cannot do with the plugin architecture) and then streaming the results. A better solution would be to have a program that obtained a last.fm stream and then songcasted the stream onto the network. Then a user could select the last.fm songcast on their DS. If you are interested in pursuing this project you can find resources on the openhome website.

If you have an idea for a plugin that fits with our model have a look here to see how to go about writing a plugin (Best example to look at is Bbc).

Cheers,
David
