RE: Welcome to the new Linn website
(2011-10-10 19:41)Briain Wrote: Well, the new main Linn site certainly looks very pretty, but it's not easy to get to the information you might be wanting. Personally, I think far too many modern web sites are all about superficial presentation and not so focussed on content (the major corporate ones are the worst; their marketing managers believe it's more important to show people than anything else). I'm certainly not saying that the Linn site falls anywhere into that category - and it certainly isn't bogged down with flash animations and the like - but from what I've seen, the lack of information could be a bit of an issue. For example, To me, the site now implies that the Klimax system is now the KDSM and 350A. Does that mean Linn have dropped the KDS, KK, 350A, 345, etc from the product portfolio? Maybe they have, but assuming not, where is the information about them? There are pictures of Sky boxes and Xbox's (or is it a PS3) all over the shop, but where is the KK or 345? Okay, I'm being super cheeky and OTT cause y'all know me, but my underlying point is still a valid one. Come on Briain, you promised your first comments would be complimentary... Though seriously, judging by the gossip on the forum, I think most people were itching for info on the new DSM products. Everything else from the old site will eventually make it online in some form - think the Product Info section answers a lot of these queries - but you lot already know about these products anyway as most of you are listening to them every day! |

But there are a few things that appear to be a step back on the forum site. We appear to have lost: As Jim says, all the forum features will come back in but there has to be a little adjustment while we fit the new skin. Plus we'll be able to put more effort into getting a bit more out of the forum software too now we have a stronger platform. We only took the cakes away so you'll be happier when we bring them back anyway... |

I think they'd look really good, even to folks who aren't crusty old engineers like me! There'll be plenty of opportunities to add pictures of men in white coats hoovering up neutrons but I would say crusty old engineers like yourself do have a slightly more advanced capacity for detail than the average music lover. I do like those pictures though - guess that must make me a crusty young engineer... |

Well at least you didn't take a leaf out of the Salisbury book. The forum still works! Good job!

RE: Welcome to the new Linn website
Excellent work!!!!! Yes of course teething issues, few typos etc, but generally it looks good and seems to work well. And that's on my iPad, if you spend a little time on it and are patient !!! I think the most interesting comment has been that this is all now under Linn's direct control (or should that be Kontrol). Rather than some third party web developer / CMS. So we can look forward to a more immediate, interactive experience with Linn - which is how it should be in this day and age. Looking forward to exploring the new DSM products as well.

RE: Welcome to the new Linn website
One more to add to the pile for tomorrow...
Clicking the image showing new posts in a thread seems to take you to the last page, but not the latest post in the thread. Possibly need to use "pid=" and the post id, not "page=" and the page id, judging by the URLs. Main System: Renew DS > Exotik+DA/D > A2200/D > 242s (mk2) & A3200/D > 106c, 104c's (using Linn Silvers & K400, on Hutter rack) Dining Room: Sneaky DS > Majik 109s (using "K200") Bedroom: Majik DS > Tivoli Radio Model 3 + Companion Speaker |
