RODRIGO Y GABRIELA CON C.U.B.A. on April 20th at Radio City Music Hall ...
Don't know how long their gig lasted (no watch, no mobile) - it was a tour de force on highest level imho (originally they are metal heads, said Rodrigo...) - the performance lifted my old ass from the chair and the sound was first class!Keep on swinging! |

RE: My Most Recent Concert
Just back from a great show by Darrell Scott as part of the SummerTyne Americana Festival at the Sage Gateshead. I even tried a pulled pork burrito, next to the open air stage, on the way out.

Bap Kennedy last night at King Tuts Glasgow. Real up close and personal. A varied set of mixed tempo numbers of country influenced rock from his previous solo career plus a few from his new Mark Knopfler produced album including an encore containing a classic from his Energy Orchard days. Thoroughly enjoyable evening. Even got to chat with him and to autograpgh the new cd. Being flacced as I type.

Patti Smith yesterday night. Magnificent. 2 hours of music from Horses to Banga. And the sound quality was very good and not too loud. No need for ear plugs and I was less than two meters from the stage.....just in front of Patti

My annual pilgrimage to WOMAD last weekend. It was great, but then it always is great (great world music and great world food). Robert Plant played the open air stage on Sunday evening (Robert Plant & The Strange Sensation) and they rattled off a few Led Zeppelin tunes; absolutely marvelous stuff!

Live@Troon from the Concert Hall - the View and the Imagineers.
As expected the View were pacy, full of energy and loud. Fortunately we were seated in the balcony - tha antics of the crowd were as entertaining as the band. The highlight of the night for me however were the Imagineers, a young up and coming Glasgow band who played some great tunes and sounded great. |

RE: My Most Recent Concert
Bruce Cockburn @ Fitzroy Church Belfast 29/8/12
Bruce is a legend with a huge back catalogue and he claims he has forgotten how to play some of his older songs - not surprising given the complexity of his wonderful guitar arrangements . His voice is brilliant live and he played an interesting mix of old and new material. I havent seen him mentioned on this forum before but he is very prominent in his native Canada . The sound quality and production of his albums is excellent and I would thoroughly recommmend that forum members check him out especially dancing in the dragons jaws , Night Vision, The charity of night. Plenty on spotify to sample. The gig itself was inspirational, seeing him in such an intimate venue with excellent sound and a very enthusuastic audience. Having him agree to consider to relearn one of his old songs to play next time in belfast was the icing on the cake !!
