They literally blew the place away. Great entertainment, Great Energy and a solid performance.

Check out the Wiki entry for the Liverpool Olympia, it is a significant piece of architecture and historically important Smile
Also, it's a fanatic venue, saw Robert Plant there 18 months ago, wish there were more gigs at this venue, it's probably the best gig venue in Liverpool Cool

LP12 / Renew / KK in Black / Tunebox full of cards / LK140 X2 / Klout on the Bass / Keltiks / lots of Silver Linn Cables / thick grey expensive cable under the floor boards AKA K600 Big Grin -

Steve Winwood and his band where the opening act at the 17th Cheltenham Jazz Festival last night, in a warm up gig for his upcoming US tour.

To think that he is still performing songs that he wrote and sang in the mid 1960's, and is still sounding so good after all this time, made for a great night.

There was also a chunk of the best of Traffic and some of his solo hits. And is there a better player of the Hammond B3 organ ? He's also a pretty mean guitarist as well.

Darvel Music Festival - where? I hear you ask. A small East Ayrshire town that each year puts together an excellent and diverse set of artistes. They are to be commended for their imagination and enthusiasm.
Red Sky July opened last nights show with what they loosely described as alt. country. Shelly Poole (formerly of Alisha's Attic), husband Ally McErlaine (of Texas fame) and American Charity Hair delivered a polished set with good audience interaction.
Then the Big Dish fresh from their reunion gig in January, sounding even better despite a couple of fluffed intros to Big Town which were amusingly treated and received. All the usual numbers closing with their "All The Young Dudes" cover which hints at a touch of irony and a stonking version of "25 Years".
Roll on tonight for Love & Money.

Darvel Music Festival again, this time Love & Money.
Fantastic show. Fresh from King Tut's launch of their new album we were treated to a first half devoted entirely to their new tunes which sounded very fresh, and although recogniseably Love & Money, a significant enough departure from their early work.
Second half was a great run through of their best known work and really had the audience going near the end.
If James Grant ever decides to hang up his guitar he could carve out another career as a stand up comedian. His droll West Coast Scottish humour had the audience in stitches at times. Plenty of banter throughout.

Michael Schenker with Doogie White at ABC Glasgow on Friday night.

Did many Scorpions and UFO classics - bit of a greatest hits show. And it was nice to see Doogie able to say 'Good Evening Glasgow' for the first time in 25 years...

Ian Mcculloch at the Epstein theatre (old Neptune theatre) Liverpool Friday 11th May. An excellent night out with Ian Broudie playing alongside him. Nice clear sound, not too loud in a beautiful theatre. Bunnymen songs done with Violin, cello, keyboard, Mac on acoustic with Ian Broudie on electric guitars. Also a few new songs from Mac from his forthcoming CD. He really enjoyed it and he got back from the crowd what he put out.

Peter Gabriel and New Blood Orchestra at Life Festival in Oswiecim (Auschwitz) on 13/05/12, with some other (Polish) supporting artists like Kroce (folk), Anna Maria Jopek (vocal-jazz/fado - check her voice!)...
Peter was realy great, and with orchestra everything was sounding very fresh! And the light show was a class in itself!

Wow, that must have been special. I've been to Oświęcim (Osh vien cim, think: posh bean sim) a couple of times; a beautiful old town with friendly people and great ice cream, as well as the naturally deeply moving museum in two very different parts.
