How do you disable net aux?
Great facility, but with a family owning lot's of i devices, I need to turn this off. How, turning off visible doesn't do it.

RE: How do you disable net aux?
Don't iThingys have on/off switches?
Threats followed by extreme actions will usually keep them from messing with your music. Just kidding of course. Seriously you may need to use older firmware. I have not noticed any musical difference between Davaar 5 and earlier Davaars. Klimax DS/1/D, Klimax Kontrol/1/D, ATC SCM50SL AT, jRiver Media Center v17 ![]() Salty Dog system RenewDS, Karin, Klout, Tukans and of course jRiver. |

You can hide it from the control points, but not from the iThings. Ideally, once should be able to disable this functionality. Maybe next Davaar release. RE: How do you disable net aux?
Does disabling it in Konfig not do the trick? If not, I agree, it needs to feature in a future release.
If I were 15 again, I could have a lot of fun with this...

Yes your right, hiding it does not disable it, like you are able to do with Songcast. A must for a future software revision I think............. |

RE: How do you disable net aux?
If you have an apple airport extreme wifi network you can configure it to have two networks, one for guests or kids, and one for you.
http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MD031/AirPort-Extreme Your wifi router might do something similar. Check the documentation. You will need to be clever with the way you set up the subnets, but it should work. I have not tried it, but it may be a way forward if this is something major for you. or You could have two wifi networks(with two wireless routers) in your house (change the channel on one) and hide one so only you know it is there. Cheers Will |

RE: How do you disable net aux?
Or if your router has a VLAN facility, you could create 2 VLAN's (one for the DS network and another for everything else). Both groups would still be able to access the internet, but whilst both would still be on the same subnet (and thus both allocated IP addresses from the same DHCP server in the router) they would not be able to see each other. It's a very quick and easy way to separate things like that if your router supports VLAN.

You can rename 'netaux' in Konfig. Rename it to 'DON'T USE OR ELSE' and see if they take notice!
Main System: Sneaky DS + 2250 Amp + K400 cable + Keilidhs (ReadyNAS Duo and Kinsky Jukebox) 2nd System in Study: Classik-K, Mission Speakers. All views expressed in my posts are my own and if they offend anyone, then tough

RE: How do you disable net aux?
I agree on the VLAN issue, but it is a technical solution to an overlooked Linn configuration issue. The initial problem, my children and their enjoyment of disturbing my music listening has abated. Note they are 31 and 28 years old - so annoying retired father is considered amusing.
I think Linn just overlooked the issue, they put in the visibility config, but probably didn't realise that iThings can always see it. |
