Majik-I problems
Hello:
This is my first post and I need some help.
I have a 10 yr. old Majik-I with Kudos tuner module installed. It has worked flawlessly for the entire time (I bought it new), until I recently moved it to a different room.
When I installed it in its new environment, the tuner section emitted a steady hum, but no music. Also, although the preamp and amp sections would work, it occasionally cuts out and I get no sound at all from the CD player or turntable (which is used through the AUX input). This sometimes happens when I walk across the carpetted floor, which makes me think that somehow some static electricity has been introduced into the unit, but I am no where near being an electrical engineer, so really have no clue as to what has happened to cause the problem.
One thing I should mention is that when I removed the unit from its previous location, the speaker cables' banana plugs took some force to remove (they were a very tight fit, but were the ones supplied by Linn with the Majik).
I took the shell off, to see if there was an obvious broken connection somewhere, but didn't see anything. Very impressed with the level of workmanship, however.
Any suggestions, before I call Linn? Don't know whether they service units this old, or not.
Help!!!
Jerry

Hmmm, Jerry,

I've got no clue on your problem although I've heard a lot. Don't worry - it still is supported by Linn (hope this is good news!)

Martin:
Thanks. I will probably contact Linn, if there are no other suggestions.

- Open it and unplug/re-insert all connectors/cables, also the IC/speaker cables.
- "Massage" the earth joints.
- Tighten all screws, circuit board and chassis.

Tune dem and source first rules!

I will give that a try. Thanks for the suggestions.
