Hi,

I'm probaly very stupid but Can anybody explain to me how i get my ipad working as my remote for my akurate. I've followed all the steps for a high-end system from linn docs.

But what software besides kinsky has to be on the ipad? Linn Gui? I cant find that in the apple app store. I have no linn pre-amp so do i need Gui?

I'm stuck and frustrated also because the sound has deteriorated since i have the high-end setup. So how do i send the data from the nas(or network?) to the ipad. Twonky is already installed. The music is on the nas(qnap ts 219 pro). now i need the link to my ipad.

You should just need to put Kinsky on the iPad. It should pick up your Twonky as the media server and your Akurate DS, and then you should be able to browse Twonky, select some music and add it to the playlist for the Akurate, then hit "play" and you're off...

Do you have Kinsky desktop working on your PC/Mac? I'd probably start there to ensure that both the NAS and Akurate are working properly over wired connections, then add the iPad once you've got something up and running.

For starters, it would help if we had a rough idea of what computer setup you are using (in addition to your Q-NAP). As rowlandhills says, you should first ensure that things are working off your PC/Mac by using Kinsky on that device. Also, are we talking A-DS or A-DSM? Once you can stream using your PC/Mac as a control point, you will have sorted out the likely issue.

Actually, what you should first do is contact your Linn dealer, since if you purchased the Akurate DS from an authorized retailer, they should be responsible for helping you get your system configured.

If your dealer is not able to help then they shouldn't be selling Linn. And if you didn't purchase your Akurate from an authorized dealer, then best of luck to you in getting things up and running.

Setting up a DS is not rocket science. It can be frustrating, but is not impossible, and with the available help on this forum, I think it is not as bad is it was, say...5 years ago. The above comment implies that setting up a DS is beyond the ken of an "authorised dealer". Frankly, I would rather trust a network expert than a Linn dealer for help with my setup, but that's another story. OTOH, if we're talking LP-12, then I would agree with your comment. Smile

Linn GUI is very old, and is what preceded Kinsky.
As posted above, it should be fairly simple to get your iPad working, providing the network is up and running!

Thanks guys but i still wonder what i have to do.

First of all i have an akurate ds which is a few years old.

Set: Mark levinson 23.5, 26 and 25(poweramp, preamp, phono pre). A linn lp12,ekos2,lingo. and now + akurate ds.

The akurate goes directly into my preamp.

The akurate is working on kinsky which is on my computer(shuttle xpc). The music stands on a Qnap nas ts 219 pro 2 with two seagate barracudas 3 tb discs in it. Up to here everything works.

Now i have to install my ipad. On my ipad there is also kinsky but this doesn't pick up the music and artwork on the NAS.

Where do i have to change something so the ipad can pickup the data. Is this in the qnap twonky server??? Does linn konfig need to see the ipad(it sees only the qnap and the akurate).

Can somebody please guide me to the solution in a structered manner.

I begin to believe that you need a phd in computerscience to get the akurate working well Wink

Well i'm a total newbie on the computer streaming side.

If somebody can guide me it would be much appreciated.

Oh the network setup is linn recommended. Isp router/netgear router/netgear switch/qnap/wap

Okay, this sounds promising. Just to be absolutely sure...when you say "the akurate is working" you mean that you can see all of your music, including tags for artist, album etc. and can see album art, and that you can build up a playlist for the Akurate DS which will then play?

On your iPad, in Kinsky, can you see the music server that you can see from your desktop PC? If so, can you see some music but not artwork? Are they tracks where you can see the artwork on your PC?

Also, can you see the Akurate DS? If you can see the Akurate DS, can you control it once a playlist is built up using Kinsky on the PC?

No, there's nothing to change on the iPad. If it can see the Akurate and the QNap/Twonky then it will work, and both should be visible on your network in default configurations.

It sounds like we have to go back a bit further with Theo!

1. Have you run Konfig and are you using the latest updates of Daavar?
2. Is you iPad connected to the home network by wi-fi?

Methinks that you may be dragging and dropping the files/albums onto Kinsky when you use the PC. If this is the case, then it's quite likely that you do not have Twonky configured on your Q-NAP. Can you browse, WITHIN Kinsky on the PC, the artists etc in the left hand side panel? i.e. Do you get the library showing up?
