RE: Tagging problem?
Hi

I find Chorus, Songbook Lite and Kinsky are fine (and very fast) on the iPad 1 once they're working. That said, I do have quite a swift NAS and thus wonder if that's something to do with the problem you are observing; which model of NAS are you using at the moment?

Still on my original readyNAS Duo Brian. It currently has two 2TB drives in Raid-x. Would upgrading the memory help?

Cheers, Bill.

RE: Tagging problem?
When I had a Duo and NV+, I enlarged the memory on both (and they already came with a lot more memory than I have) but it didn't make any observable difference. The spare CPU in the older ReadyNAS is fine for a medium sized collection, but when you get beyond a certain level, it starts to get a tad sluggish when navigating the menus. It depends on how many FLAC files you have (and to some extent, on the trees you are using) but I'd be happy to let you borrow a more swift NAS (with over 1TB of sounds*) just to let you see if that addresses the speed issue when dealing with a large collection.

RE: Tagging problem?
I'm fairly sure that you mean "SPARC CPU" there, rather than "spare CPU" Bri! Smile

& A3200/D > 106c, 104c's (using Linn Silvers & K400, on Hutter rack)

Dining Room: Sneaky DS > Majik 109s (using "K200")
Bedroom: Majik DS > Tivoli Radio Model 3 + Companion Speaker

My spelling collector never causes problems. Perhaps it's because I use My crow soft word.

Tagging problem?
Hi Brian. I have over 22,000 tracks on my NAS at the moment, a few pics and vids and a back up of my critical data from my office. I have 48% of my 2TB (1853GB) used. I have tried Songbook Lite and it is a lot quicker than Kinsky. I have only recently upgraded the drives from 1TB to 2TB each. Maybe I should have upgrade the whole NAS instead. It sounds like you are saying my problem will only get worse as I keep adding to my collection. bugger! It would be nice to see just how much difference a faster NAS would be so I will speak to JC about his next visit to you. Mean time I am trying to work out a solution to his sound leakage problem!

Cheers, Bill.

A wee dod of Areldite Rapid to form an early end-stop on his volume knob would be my initial suggestion! Big Grin
