I like this as well.

The album is called 'By The Light Of The Moon' and the track is 'Little Rachel'. The first track is 'Stand Back'.

Sonet SNTF 857.

In fact, I'm going to put it on now.

Smile

Lets put together a Top Ten records list for reference play.
Here are two from me.

1. Rockin Jimmy and the Brothers of the Night, "Dance to the Light of the Moon" Track 3 "Stand back little Rachel" On the Sonet label. You will have to search for this one but its my favourite track of all time. Its not 180G or anything special but it is a great recording and the best tune dem of all time as it just sings on the Linn.

2. Sara K. "Waterfalls" track 3 side D "All your Love, turns to Passion" This is a beautifull specially mastered recording on 180G by Stockfisch Records.

Lets build the list and help each other find great music even if we have to scour the gamut of charity shops to find them.

Totally agree with Rockin' Jimi Little Rachel, they use it at Phonography, I use it in testing our products and it's a great number.

I recently bought Taj Mahal Recycling the Blues & Other Related Stuff.
It came from the States, cost a fortune and then got stuck in customs with duty to pay!

It is 180 Gram on Pure Pleasure and sounds amazing, another test record that will tell you exactly what is going on.

The track Sweet Home Chicago is the star and a treat with the Pointer Sisters on backing vocals.

Regards, Mark

RE: Top Ten Reference Records
.

A couple for you:

'Mars: Bringer of War' - Holst: The Planets, Andre Previn and the LSO. For sheer dynamic range from low lows to soaring, crashing climaxes this has got the lot. It's recently been re-released and is fab. And that's from someone who is not a classical buff in any way shape or form.

'Tower of Song' - Leonard Cohen : I'm Your Man. Fantastic vocals, pure emotion and very well produced.

Side 1, Track 4 : 'L'Daddy' really demonstrates how good Jeff Porcaro's drum work was (and certainly shows up any system limitations!).

For those not in the know, Porcaro was the drummer with 'TOTO'.

+1, I am listening to it right now......the previous track 'She' is also good.

If we are talking about system tests, and not musical tastes, Rolleyes then Phil Collins...(I have a Jap copy) 'Hello I must be going', track called ....'Thru these walls'.

Cantate Domino by Oscars Motettkor....any track really, but Julsang is great.

LP12SE, Ekos SE, Kandid /Klimax Radikal / Urika / KDS-mk4/K Kontrol - Mk2 / Klimax Solos-Mk2 / Akurate 242-Mk2
A/V System:- Sony S570 Blu-Ray, Onkyo TX-SR875, Linn Komponent Speakers.
Upstairs:- Nakamichi DR2, Exposure VII Dual, 2x VI, IV single, MS10s.

I know, how brave am I? Phil bloody Collins!

On a more conventional note, either 'Breakfast in the field' or 'Aerial Boundaries' by Michael Hedges, great recordings and the music will make you forget Mr Collins......Big Grin

RE: Top Ten Reference Records
Me neither but I've put it on the list. All tracks are welcome as long as they are a good reference test.
