Using the new counter-weight probably won't benefit the Akiva on a Linn tonearm. Linn tonearms are designed specifically for Linn cartridges, which include the Linn counter weight. However, the heavier weight cartridges will benefit sonically from a heavier counter-weight on a Linn tonearm. Better balance and tracking, etc.

I'm with you. But I was basing the question on the fact that Tiger Paw tested it using an Akiva (amongst others). Is it not possible that the design may also have a beneficial sonic effect with an Akiva? Otherwise, why bother testing it with one?
