The Bridge BBC4
Just a quickie to bring your attention to 'The Bridge' now running on BBC4.
The first two episodes have already been shown this week.Do whatever you can to catch up.The following two episodes are to be broadcast Saturday at 9:00pm. Yes it's another Scandinavian crime drama and there has been afew lately but this is something really special.Or should I say it's shaping up to be something special. It's clever and stylish.Beautifully shot, think Micheal Mann. Anyway believe the hype it's the best thing I've seen on the tv since Desperate Scousewives

RE: The Bridge BBC4
I thought the first two episodes were good - wasn't too sure about the idea of the "good-looking, blonde detective who wears leather trousers and drives a Porsche" as that seemed a bit Hollywoody, but the Porsche thing was referenced in the first episode. Looking forward to parts 3 & 4 on saturday!

RE: The Bridge BBC4
Saga Noren is just weird-with an almost childlike naivety(I can't say we've warmed to her). We enjoy spotting the actors from other Scandinavian 'tec dramas. The leading male Martin Rohde (played by Kim Bodnia) has appeared in the first series of 'The Killing' (playing a character called Bulow) and also more recently on the ITV3 series 'Those Who Kill' where he played a Russian hood in one of the episodes.

Have heard similar from family members - we start watching tonight as it won't last on iPlayer many weeks. Tonights 'Vera' will have to wait a while. Did you recently see a Danish political drama called 'Borgen'? Anything political is not normally my thing, but it too was very good. Couple of chaps in the office keep going on about 'Homeland'. You seen that? LP12 (Radikal, Keel, Ekos SE, Akiva), Linto, Kikkin, 4200, 140s |

RE: The Bridge BBC4
Glad you're enjoying The Bridge.I missed 'Borgen'.I will watch it if it gets repeated.
I have been watching 'Homeland'.I have afew issues with it though, mainly the dialogue. They seem to throw expletives in all over the shop.I find it really annoying and totally unnecessary. There are even two 'f*cks' in the opening credits!Don't get me wrong I'm no prude and I can swear like a tropper. I just find it really lazy writing. It's abit of a pet peeve of mine.I could be watching a period drama and out of nowhere they will throw acouple of 'f*cks' in!I'm there asking myself ''when did the word 'f*ck' first appear in any dialect?''....I have issues and really need to get out more. Sooooo I have watched 'Homeland' and it's ok. I think alot of American tv shows have been going the same way as 'Homeland'.They start off with one or two good ideas and stretch it out over five seasons and twenty odd episodes at a time.'Lost' being a prime example. There has been some amazing tv shows over the past few years though.I think 24 and 'Sopranos' were game changers. 'The Wire' and 'Dexter' have been my favourites. If you haven't seen them get the boxsets.Highly recommened. I think British tv has raised it's game too.'This Is England 86/88' were stunning. I'm also big fan of 'Sherlock'. LP12/Dynamik Radikal/Urika/Keel/Ekos SE/Cadenza Black/Ikemi/Exotik/C2200/Katans/Chord Signature speaker cable/VPI HW 16.5 RCM |

And better than the recent hollywood movie. I never saw 'Sapranos'. Maybe one for DVD, if it is wife friendly. Thanks for the Homeland feedback. I agree about the US 12 / 24 episode thing. They are well written to maintain suspense, but being constantly drip fed the story gets tiresome after a while. I'd kind of had enough of that concept after the original series of '24'.
