Help with putting a compilation together on CD please.
Hi there,
I'm not sure if this is the right place for this question, or even if it is appropriate for the forum; but here it is anyway. I have been trying to figure out how to burn a selection of tracks to a CD without having to go in the cellar and dig out my CD collection. I am using an iMac with XLD and Twonky on a Qnap Nas, and of course iTunes. Is it possible to use XLD in order to burn tracks from Twonky to a CD? Or do I need to somehow convert the tracks I want into a format which iTunes can use? And then import them to iTunes and burn from there? Any tips would be welcome. Thanks, Rob. RE: Help with putting a compilation together on CD please.
1) First use XLD to convert the tracks you want into Apple Lossless.
2) Import lossless files into iTunes. 3) Build playlist in iTunes. 4) Burn selection using iTunes. 5) Remember to reset your XLD preferences back to ripping requirement. Dave |

With a Windows box, it's even better than that (if you have the dBpoweramp suite) as you can simply drag and drop the FLAC files (from your NAS and into the CD creator facility) and it sorts it all out for you (converts to WAV, endian swaps, then burns the CD); it's just the job!

RE: Help with putting a compilation together on CD please.
Thanks to everyone for the replies.
I think I have a better idea now. I have launched XLD and changed the output to Apple lossless, then used the menu and used the 'Open' option. I can then select the files I want from the NAS. I am struggling though with the 'Output directory' which it then asks for. I am not sure what to select, whether to just create a file somewhere which XLD will dump the files into once the conversion is done or if I need to select iTunes somehow. Thanks again, Rob. If you have a local iTunes on the Mac that you are using XLD on, then just tick the add to iTunes library. This option is on the same preferences screen as the output format option (General). Output folder, just use the Mac music folder. Dave |
