RE: Did you ever do something shocking to your Linn gear ?
on my previous pair of Kef speakers, I upgraded the Uni-Q (Mid and Tweeter unit). Before screwing the drive units into the cabinets, I decided to 'audition' them...LP12 on...sat down....wow- nice sound....but that drive unit on the RHS is not correctly sat in the cabinet...I'll just turn it slightly...BANG!
By turning the drive unit, the cable to the tweeter had come into contact with the cable to the mid driver..and the system is bi-amped, so 2 LK140's went up in smoke :-( Boxed up, back to Linn- complete rebuild and lesson learnt! LP12 Radikal(D), Keel, Khan, Ekos 2, Cadenza Black (Kandid deposit paid), Urika, AK Kontrol(D), 2x AK 3200(D) into KEF 205/2. 2250 into Kef 204/2, 2x LK140 into Kef 206/2s. VDH MC Gold interconnects. VDH Magnum Tri-wired front end. Nordost Vishnu mains. Twin dedicated ring mains. All sat on IsoBlue. |

Yes it sucks when something like that happens, total accident. I used to visit a dealer in birmingham where the guy used to hot swap speakers just leaving the live speaker leads loose on the floor, I warned him several times about it but he didn't listen and said "it'll be alrite" untill he blew an amp up in front of me, an embarrassing episode for him and a lot of explaining to his boss. |

Well there was the time I was told all Klimax gear was self adjusting for voltage. KXO owners beware. They may just have a switch.
Klimax DS/1/D, Klimax Kontrol/1/D, ATC SCM50SL AT Salty Dog system RenewDS, Karin, Klout, Tukans and of course jRiver. |
