Its probably still worth putting the Kairn into the ADS / A4200 system and setting the DS back to no volume control, see what you make of it.

Hi sunbeamgls - great minds think alike! Just done this and now using Kairn as volume control.

Going ads/0 to ads/1is a massive difference.
I am careful to say difference, and not improvement, as some may not hear it as such I suspect. It's brighter, more sparkly and clearer - maybe 'bright' could be a criticism from some. I like the ADS/1 sound. Problem is I then heard a Renew! That was clearly an improvement, not just a difference. As such I would recommend you audition an ads/1 or ADSM and a Renew if possible FIRST.
