Musical structure
All the chords are major chords or seventh chords, and all the musical letters of the alphabet (A, B, C, D, E, F and G) are used. The song ends with a chord progression built on ascending and descending lines in the bass and strings, repeated over and over as the song fades. The chord progression of the outro itself is a harmonic Moebius strip with scales in bassline and top voice that move in contrary motion." The bassline descends stepwise A, G, F, E, D, C, and B, while the strings' part rises A, B, C, D, E, F#, G: this sequence repeats as the song fades, with the strings rising higher on each iteration. The repeated cell is seven bars long, which means that a different chord begins each four-bar phrase. The song is in the key of A and the instrumental introduction starts in the Lydian mode of B major. Verse 1 begins with a I-♭III-IV-I rock pattern: "******" (A chord)..."******" (C chord) "*******..." (D chord) "...**" (A chord). Verse 2, however, involves a ♭VI-♭VII-I Aeolian ascent: (F chord) (G chord) (A chord). The chorus uses a ♭III-IV-I pattern: "******** (C chord) "******* (D chord). "****** (E chord), "******" hanging as an imperfect cadence until resolved with the I (A chord) on "*******."[9] At the line "******" the D# melody note (as in the instrumental introduction) establishes a Lydian mode (sharp 4th note in the scale) and this mode is emphasised more strongly with the addition of a D# note to the B chord on "*******"[10] I have taken out the obvious clues. Just thought it might be a laugh. I'll give more clues if no one gets it. What's really interesting about this thread is not the question or even the answer but the fact that I guess most people have no idea about the construct of music and that includes me !
I can tell if a band isn't tight, I can tell is a singer is flat but I can't tell you why in any sort of technical detail  But then I ask myself do I really care and I guess the answer must be no because after 36 years of listening to music I have done nothing to correct the gap, having said that where would one go to learn about music, because at school our music lessons were more about looking after the kids who played violins I can feel a poll coming on 
LP12 / Renew / KK in Black / Tunebox full of cards / LK140 X2 / Klout on the Bass / Keltiks / lots of Silver Linn Cables / thick grey expensive cable under the floor boards AKA K600 - Qnap/Twonky/Kinsky/Netgear and some other stuff I almost understand  Vintage untuned and slightly deaf ears ! |

Great cover by Spooky Tooth as well. The analysis by that guy who disected the Beatles music. If you read that first I think it might put you off Music altogether
