Drobo embraces Thunderbolt, releases Drobo Mini
Greetings all,
An article on the Macworld website about two new storage devices from Drobo which will be both Thunderbolt and USB 3.0 compatible: http://www.macworld.com/article/1167372/..._mini.html I have no connection to or association with any of the companies, products, persons or views expressed in the article referenced above. Regards, Mister Wednesday |

RE: Drobo embraces Thunderbolt, releases Drobo Mini
Just remember that Drobo use an encrypted proprietary format to store their filesystem metadata and logs. Which could cause an issue if a (Drobo) software error caused apparent multiple disk failures.

RE: Drobo embraces Thunderbolt, releases Drobo Mini
Thunderbolt is on the way out I think.. Apple's latest products (Macbook pro's) feature both usb3 and thunderbolt. It's likely a matter of time before they will diminish.. same happened to firewire.

RE: Drobo embraces Thunderbolt, releases Drobo Mini
Not likely. Thunderbolt is supported by the new chipset and has provisions for up to 10W power. Methinks it's here to stay. Also once 10GB Ethernet hits mainstream, USB 3 will be limiting, just as USB 2 is presently.
