Longest time online to wait for secondhand gear
Mine is the Yamaha NS-1000M speakers, had an opportunity to buy a pair 3 years ago. Procrastinated and when I made the (obvious) decision to buy them they had already been sold.
Which is annoying, I should have bought them there and then...
Perhaps I was persuaded by the 'Jap cr*p' debate back then, I dallied and I paid the price.
Although my knowledge now means that that is not exactly true.
I'm still trawling the net for these Yamaha's, it's now become the holy grail.
One day!

Anyway, have you like myself been on a (so far) fruitless task to acquire rare secondhand Linn or otherwise gear?

Thanking you.

RE: Longest time online to wait for secondhand gear
You are certainly unlucky - I sold a mint pair two months ago, the advert lasted less than two days - I thought it was a fair price too at £999. The new owner was very happy.

I have been waiting for an Akurate 225 center speaker in Oak but then bought a black one for a customer and realised that it was too large for my small lounge. My 212s were huddled together in the corner of the room when the 225 came out of the box looking very scared indeed. My wife didn't even need to comment as I had already decided it was too big. Sounded marvellous though - really really good - shame, need a larger house.

Shame, I was away whilst the advert was up I guess.

Anyway, difficult to get a balance isn't it?
Exactly the same for me when I demo'ed some ESL 63's. My partner turned to me and said 'I close my eyes and the sound is really nice, but when I open my eyes I see Stonehenge!"

Personally I would have had the Quad's at least for a while anyway, I enjoyed the sound that came out of them.
A lot!
