Akurate DSM line out question
My Majik DSM has both pre-out and line out. I use the line out to connect to the base-station of a pair of Sennheiser wireless headphones. That way when I use the headphones, I just mute the DSM and use the volume control build into the headphones. Also the cabling is tucked away at the back.
The Akurate DSM seems to have two sets of RCA outs, but I cannot tell if either of them are fixed/line out or if both are Pre-outs with volume applied. Can someone with an ADSM confirm if they are both variable or fixed level or if they are configurable via Konfig? One is for connection to unbalanced RCA, the other to balanced XLR inputs. For the full spec see here: http://docs.linn.co.uk/wiki/index.php/Akurate_DSM. There is also a headphones output on the front panel, if that helps. For the full spec see here: http://docs.linn.co.uk/wiki/index.php/Akurate_DSM So the ADSM has no line level out (something that the MDSM has)? I would prefer not to use the front panel headphone jack because: 1) Since my headphones are wireless with their own volume control, line level works better for me. 2) If I forget to take out the headphone jack after use, my 1.5 year old son has something to yank out! The MDSM line level out works perfectly for me, and I am considering an uppgrade to ADSM and noticed this feature missing. It seems this feature is indeed dearly missing on the Akurate DSM. The Akurate Kontrol has both sets of fixed and variable Line Out connections. This makes it much easier to attach an existing Linn KNEKT installation, or connect with a dedicated headphone amp. In general the AK DSM is a fantastic device with incredible price/performance ratio. It is really a pity that Linn cancelled the fixed level output. |

RE: Akurate DSM line out question
Blimey, it doesn't does it ! So no recording of your records via Line out to a PC running Audacity. I wonder why Linn did not provide this feature - there is plenty or real estate on the rear of the case.

RE: Akurate DSM line out question
Yes, I am using the fixed line out of the MDSM which for some reason, the ADSM doesn't have.

RE: Akurate DSM line out question
You should be able to turn off volume config in Konfig.
If not, just set volume max at 80 in Konfig, and max the DS everytime you want to use it. This means that at 80 volume setting, you will have line out. (Not entirely fixed...but close). Renew DS, Klimax 350A, Majik DSI, Komponent 110, Sennheiser HD 600 and HD 800, Ikemi, Wakonda, Epicure M1, Magnepan. |
