Project 9cc Modification
With the scarcity of new low cost tone arm alternatives (especially outside of the UK – very few Nima dealers in the US, let alone someone who can install one on the LP12), I came across a thread on vinylengine regarding a modification to the Project 9cc tone arm. It involves the addition of a trough with silicon to the stock arm developed by Oracle Audio for their Paris Turntable. It sounds like they are also selling this as an upgrade to the existing Project 9cc (around 200$ US). The last post was from March 2012 when there was some question on general availability.
The second page of the thread has details and images on the modification. There was no reference on compatibility or trying this on the Majik but it maybe a cost effective upgrade worth exploring: http://www.vinylengine.com/turntable_for...42&t=42094 I just had my Project 9cc replaced with an Akito mk3 (and Trampolin 2). One difference (of many) I noticed was a reduction of bass (bloat?) but an improvement in precision and overall flow of the music. The reviewer of the Oracle modification notes some similar improvements (second page of thread midway down). __________________________________________________ LP12 Majik / Akito mk3 / Adikt / Trampolin 2 Arcam FMJ A22 / Arcam CD92 / Proac D15 LP12 Majik/Akito 3/Adikt/Trampolin 2, Arcam CD92, Arcam FMJ A22, PS Audio Dectet, ProAc D15 |
