my linn akito jumps the record every now and then. tried every thing
even a new 1042 cartridge.suspect the deck could have been dropped
at some time.me thinks it could be the anti skate adjustment or
sticky arm bearings.any thouhts or ideas from members.thank you

RE: linn akito
i had a similar problem some years ago. with me it was the arm lift that was bend a little so at some point mainly with flatter records the arm would skip.

RE: linn akito
hi john

is it a early mark 1 akito?

try setting the anti skate to zero and the VTF to zero...and once the arm is floating gently push it up and down and left and right...this should show up any bearing sticking

let us know the results
best wishes

RE: linn akito
Yes, it sounds very much like an Akito 1 and although not mentioned above by J7...... He will almost certainly be able to rectify the problem for you.

Many Linn retailers use his services, so I suggest you get your retailer to check over and service your deck at the same time.

Arms can be returned to J7 direct if you wish or you don't have help at hand from a Linn retailer.

RE: linn akito
hi j7.many thanks for your advice. not sure how old the arm is but have tried the swing test as you
recommend and this does not suggest sticky bearings.took the arm off the base on sunday. looks
as if the previous owner had glued the arm piller to the base plate. cleaned every thing up which
enabled me to set the vta correctly.checked every thing else and played ravel bolero thro 3 times.
no probs as before. am keeping fingers crossed.regards john jay.ps struggeling a bit navigating the
forum.think ill get there eventually
