Kiko - Lipsync with Toslink input possible?

Kiko - Lipsync with Toslink input possible?
I'm interested in the new Kiko system, especially to connect my TV with the Kiko and building this way a simple AV system.

Is it possible to use the Lipsync function of the DSM via the Toslink input? The description of the Lipsync function seems to be related only with the HDMI inputs: http://docs.linn.co.uk/wiki/index.php/HD...up#Lipsync

My Samsung TV has no HDMI output.

I own a Majik DS - Majik I - Majik 140 system; the TV is not connected to this system, because there is no possibility to make any Lip sync. An AV-Receiver is no option for me - but a DSM would be.

Your Samsung should have a delay option on the digital audio output, mine has.

RE: Kiko - Lipsync with Toslink input possible?
I don't have this delay option for the Toslink output, checked it again.
It's a UE46B6000, nearby two years old now.

I could use an external set top box instead of the integrated tuner to satisfy my requirement (then using the delay function of DSM), but I would prefer to use less devices - only the TV and the DSM.

Hi

Lipsysnc can be setup in the konfig menu for all digital inputs on the DSM's via the source settings page of the web-config, it is labelled as "Delay Mode".

"Direct" = no Lip Synch/delays applied.
"Fixed" = 100ms Lip Synch/Delay applied to that source.
"Variable" = allows you to select different pre-set delays. The length of the presets are configured in the Delay Presets tab of the web-config.

Hope this helps.
Ian

Excuse me, to disturb the party!

The variable delay can't be set lower than 100ms! This is one fault, e.g. my setting at the receiver is 45ms to a Samsung TV.

Secondly, I would like to connect my Unidisk to a Majik DSM or Kiko and there is no DVI option (Picture by DVI/HDMI connector, Sound by digital or analogue out).

Any comments?

Yes, you are correct, the minimum lipsync setting that we currently offer is 100ms.
If this is not small enough, connect the digital output (SPDIF/TOSLINK) of your TV to one of the digital inputs of the DSM, and set the DelayMode of this digital input to Direct (on the DSM).

Yes, this is possible, as follows...

  1. Connect Unidisk DVI output to DSM HDMI input (example HDMI1)
  2. Connect Unidisk digital output to DSM digital input (example TOSLINK1)
  3. On DSM, select the (Unidisk) HDMI source (example HDMI1).
  4. On DSM, select the (Unidisk) digital source (example TOSLINK1).

Let me know if you need any more help.
