Sky + connection to ADSM
Hello all Experts,
Can I ask for your recommendations on connecting Sky + to an ADSM. Would you route the Sky via one of the HDMI inputs on the the ADSM, and then out to the TV (Samsung) or would you route the Sky+ directly to the TV , and connect the Sky digital audio only to the ADSM using one of the Toslinks? Many Thanks. |

RE: Sky + connection to ADSM
I would recommend connecting your SKY+ box directly to the ADSM via HDMI. Sky only output 2 channel stereo via the HDMI, so in your 2 channel setup that's all you need.
In a 5.1 AV scenario you would use the optical output from the SKY box to benefit from 5.1. STONEAUDIO UK LTD The Axium Centre, Dorchester Road Lytchett Minster, Poole, Dorset, BH16 6FE 01202 630066 info@stoneaudio.co.uk www.stoneaudio.co.uk Follow us at www.twitter.com/stoneaudio |

The reason was that we often like to watch the TV picture whilst listening to music through the ADSM, and switching sources on the ADSM temporarily disturbs the picture. BluRay and other video sources are connected directly through the ADSM. Out of the X million boxes out there, how many are actually used in 5.1 systems? So the few pence they save by using a lesser chipset adds up without inconveniencing many customers. There are rumours (but there always are) that the next boxes will do 5.1 over HDMI properly. Technical Director, What You See And Hear Ltd., Beaconsfield Superior home cinema and sound |
